Lifting Cables

The steel cables that connect the bottom of the door to the drums.

What it does

Lifting cables run from the bottom bracket of the door up to the drums on the torsion pole. They are what actually raises the door while the springs carry the weight.

Signs it needs replacing

  • Frayed or kinked strands, most often near the drum
  • A cable slack on one side
  • The door hanging skew when it stops

Fitting notes

Cables and springs do not always fail together, so one going does not mean the other is due. If one cable snaps we replace both, so the pair keeps a matched lifespan.
